Once again, Nick and Anna travelled to the northern hemisphere for a trip to Oregon (where Anna is from). Each time they are in the States, they of course visit as many breweries as they can cram in and form relationships with the cool crews that the beer community attracts. Which is what led them to this beautiful collaboration with Migration Brewing Company!
Both Drifter and Migration celebrate adventure as alluded to in their names, so an interesting collab idea was easy to come up with. Alas, the Wild Coast Gose IPA was born, featuring only ingredients from South Africa and Oregon. “We worked really hard to come up with a recipe that highlighted unique ingredients from both countries. I was excited to see how African Queen and Southern Passion hops played with our Oregon grown Amarillo and Chinooks,” says Trever Bass, Migration’s head brewer.
The name, Wild Coast, is a tribute to the annual sardine run off the eastern coastline of South Africa. It is the largest migration on earth as dolphins, sharks, whales and other sea life come to feed off the giant bait balls of sardines. It seemed apt to create a beer with Migration Brewing based on the biggest bio-mass migration.
This limited release beer is launching on Friday, November 9th at Migration's NE Glisan location in Portland, Oregon. After that, the cans will be available in select bottle stores around the Portland area. Unfortunately, we won't be getting stock in South Africa at the moment but stay tuned for when the beer is possibly brewed here :-)
