It all started with a boat. The name Drifter came from a 40' sailing yacht that was designed and built from scratch by Nick Bush's father and mother, Peter and Vanessa, in a back garden in Hout Bay. They then sailed the high seas for over 10 years on Drifter before coming back to Cape Town.
Fast forward to 2014, when circumstance and luck brought Nicholas Bush to his girlfriend's home state of Oregon, where he spent five months learning and loving to brew. As he and Anna started thinking about their next journey he knew he was destined to open a brewery, and what better place than in Cape Town, South Africa where the craft beer scene was beginning to pop off.
